Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy

Personalized Therapy for Optimal Balance

Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy (APIT) utilizes Traditional Chinese Medicine’s meridian system by stimulating acupuncture points with the injection of small amounts of sterile botanical substances, such as herbal extracts, homeopathic medicines, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients, therefore obtaining a dual effect of acu-point stimulation and the pharmacological effect of the substance injected.

It is clinically proven to be more effective than injection into a "random" location. Acupuncture points have greater attenuation, higher vascularity, and higher profusion rate.

Why acupuncture point injection therapy?

Your body is mapped with acupuncture points that can be carefully chosen to maximize the benefits of nutrient absorption. For example, injecting B12 into specific acupuncture points rather than a random muscle site can significantly enhance its effects. Targeted B12 injections can boost energy levels more effectively by stimulating pathways that support metabolism and cellular health, ensuring the vitamin is not only absorbed but also optimally utilized by your body.

Our options for injectables:

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 is essential for energy production, immune support, mood enhancement, cardiovascular health, and DNA repair. Naturally found in animal products, B12 plays a critical role in forming red blood cells and maintaining overall vitality. However, deficiencies can occur in individuals who have difficulty absorbing nutrients or those who follow vegetarian or vegan diets without supplementation.

B12 therapy can be particularly beneficial for addressing issues like chronic fatigue, muscle weakness, neuropathy, shingles, immunity challenges, brain fog, and low mood.

At Artizen Acupuncture, we offer hydroxocobalamin B12, the most bioavailable form of B12, known for its long-lasting effects. Hydroxocobalamin also supports cyanide detoxification (beneficial for smokers), as it binds to cyanide and facilitates removal through the kidneys.

Recommended Schedule:

  • Intensive Support: Once a week for 2 months

  • Ongoing Maintenance: Once a month for sustained wellness

MICC - metabolism

MICC - Methionine, Inositol, Choline, and Cyanocobalamin (B12) injections are a targeted blend of essential amino acids and vitamins designed to support fat metabolism, boost energy, and promote liver health. Methionine is a powerful amino acid that aids in the breakdown of fats within the body, while Inositol and Choline work to enhance liver function and support fat processing, helping prevent fat accumulation. Cyanocobalamin, a form of Vitamin B12, further supports energy levels, cognitive clarity, and immune health. MICC injections can be especially beneficial for individuals looking to increase energy, support weight management, or enhance overall metabolic health. At Artizen Acupuncture, we offer MICC therapy as part of a holistic approach to wellness, helping you feel energized and balanced.

Recommended Frequency:  Recommended 1x/week for 4 months, then 1x/month for general maintenance.

Tri-Immune Boost

Tri-Immune Boost is a powerful formula designed to enhance your body’s natural immune response through a blend of essential nutrients and potent antioxidants. This triple-action formula combines Glutathione, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), and Zinc to provide comprehensive support for your immune system. Glutathione acts as a master antioxidant, detoxifying the body and protecting cells, while Vitamin C and Zinc further strengthen immune defenses and promote cellular health. Tri-Immune Boost injections are available for weekly administration, providing a consistent, potent boost to your immune resilience.

Recommended Frequency: Once per week for optimal immune support.

What to expect?

What to expect when you come in for your 1st injection?

You will read over and sign a consent form.  A quick allergy test will take place before the intramuscular injection.  Ashley will put a small amount of the injectable superficially under the skin, usually near the top of elbow.  We will wait 3-5 minutes to make sure no signs of irritation show up.  Only then will the chosen solution be injected into a muscle.  This will take 10-15 minutes in total.  Subsequent injections will be 5 minutes or less, no allergy test will be necessary.

Is there an advantage to having my acupuncturist administer an injection?

Yes! B12, MICC, and Tri-Immune are intramuscular injections.  There are acupuncture points all over your muscular body.  Your acupuncturist can choose a specific acupuncture point that can not only get the solution into your system but enhance the function of the vitamin.

What does it feel like?

You may feel a pinch as the needle breaks the skin.  Ashley uses a very small hypodermic needle for your comfort.  You may feel pressure or cool sensation as the small amount of liquid is injected into the muscle.

How do I prepare for my appointment?

Before your Acupuncture Point Injection Therapy (APIT) session, please share your complete medical history and any medications you’re currently taking with your practitioner. This information helps ensure a safe, effective treatment tailored to your needs. On the day of your session, we recommend having a light meal a few hours beforehand and avoiding alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours to support optimal results.

For your comfort, wear loose, easily accessible clothing, and keep the treatment areas clean, free from lotions or oils. If this is your first APIT experience, approach your session with a calm mindset, and feel free to ask your practitioner for an overview to help set expectations. To maximize the benefits, consider scheduling your appointment at a time when you can rest afterward, allowing your body to fully absorb and respond to the therapy.

Where do you source your injectables?

At our clinic, we utilize sterile homeopathic solutions produced by a German company and other pharmaceutical grade solutions and vitamins direct from FDA regulated pharmacies. APIT can be used solo or in conjunction with other modalities and is very effective for alleviating acute or chronic pain, preventing illness, and improving overall body functions.

"Ashley is AMAZING! I have never had acupuncture before. Ashley walked me through the process, how it can be helpful to relaxing muscles, and incorporated it into the massage. As an active person with constantly sore muscles and a desk job it was just what I needed!"
